Following Sound into Silence, by Rev Todd Glacy

void-of-silence

Silence is God’s first language; everything else is a poor translation. In order to hear that language, we must learn to be still and to rest in God. — Thomas Keating

Nothing is so like God as silence. — Meister Eckhart

Following Sound into Silence
Directions: *Note, the use of headphones is strongly suggested for this meditation*

1. Settle into a quiet, comfortable position.
2. When you are ready play the audio file and focus your whole attention on the sound of the bell as it slowly dissolves into silence, focus on the above picture if that is helpful.
3. When you can no longer hear the bell stay with the silence as long as possible.
4. Repeat as desired. (You will find the more you practice this technique, the longer you will be able to stay with the sound/silence).
