Asala-Dharma Day-Buddhism

Asala-Dharma Day-Buddhism

The anniversary of the start of Buddha’s teaching – his first sermon ,”The Wheel of Truth”, after his enlightenment.  The wheel of truth, also known as the dharma wheel, or dharmachakra in Sanskrit, is one of the oldest symbols of Buddhism. Around the globe it is used to represent Buddhism in the same way that a cross represents Christianity or a Star of David represents Judaism. It represents the eightfold path to enlightenment and is also one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism.

The Noble Eightfold Path is comprised by:

Right View

Right Thought

Right Speech

Right Behavior

Right Livelihood

Right Effort

Right Mindfulness

Right Meditation

By exploring these Right ways of living, Buddhists believe you can find a path to enlightenment.

For reflection: Notice if one of these paths speaks to you. Carry it with you today and pause and reflect 3-5 times on that specific path in the moment. Journal about it at the end of your day.

Peace and Blessings for Asala Dharma
